Community Involvement
We’re passionate about giving back to our community. Our members participate in several missions, outreach, and giving opportunities.
Food Pantry
Each Sunday, First Presbyterian collects essential food items for Trinity Presbyterian Church's Winger Pantry, serving the University City area. Needed items include boxed and canned main courses, pasta, sauce, canned meat, fish, vegetables, peanut butter, beans, mac and cheese, soup, fruit, corn muffin mix, crackers, cereal, and rice.
Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services
First Presbyterian Church has supported Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services (PCHAS) for well over 100 years. PCHAS believes that the most powerful way to help children is by strengthening their families. PCHAS provides mentoring, therapy, foster care management, and financial support to nearly 4,500 children and families across three states every year. First Presbyterian supports PCHAS through an annual offering, by collecting school supplies, and by donating Christmas gifts each year.
School Partnership
First Presbyterian partners with Jackson Park Elementary in the University School District each fall, donating backpacks with school supplies. During Christmas, the church provides gifts to needy families, fostering a supportive relationship with the local school community.
Each spring, First Presbyterian partners with Rebuilding Together St. Louis, contributing skills, resources, and labor to revitalize homes of low-income homeowners in the St. Louis area. This collaboration enhances living conditions and strengthens community bonds.
We partner with refugee and immigrant families, connecting them with the people and opportunities that will empower them to build and live their best life in their new country.
